From the HYS Press Release:

Project Portal is a unique exhibition that brings the past of Yellow Springs to life through contemporary art. It includes the works of over 30 artists affiliated with FLUXspace, a non-profit art gallery in Philadelphia.

From August 15 through 17, these artists took up residency in the village and immersed themselves in its remarkable history and natural beauty. Their motivation was to draw on the village for inspiration, and recreate the experiences of artists from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) Country School in Chester Springs from 1916 to 1952. All that the FLUX artists learned, saw, and did during their time here informed the works in this exhibition. The exhibition’s private selection of early PAFA Country School artworks both inspired and complements many of these contemporary works.

Explore this inventive perspective on the past, through Project Portal.

Project Portal is funded by a Heritage Philadelphia Program Discovery Grant. Thank you to Chester Marron and Mercer’s Mills for participating in Project Portal

Best Regards,
FLUXspace Staff
